Director of Product Design (Streetsboro, OH)

Drive the Design process while directly managing a team of industrial designers and freelance resources. Bring 50-100 new products to market annually, sold by retailers across the world.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage Spectrum’s in-house Art, Product, and Sourcing teams to collaboratively introduce products that meet consumer needs
  • Drive new product development and future innovation
  • Cultivate an intimate understanding of the marketplace with a vision towards current home design and décor trends
  • Collaborate with sourcing agents and factories to develop product and improve capabilities
  • Expand production core competencies including new product mediums

 Requirements:

  • Superior design skills and a passion for collaborative product development
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or similar
  • 5-7+ years of relevant experience
  • Advanced 3D modeling and rendering – proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Some travel to manufacturing sites and trade shows

 Desired Skills:

  • Experience in the furniture, home decor or housewares sector
  • Understanding of brand management and retail marketplace
  • Knowledge of production processes including wire fabricating, plastic injection molding, steel stamping, ceramics, cut & sew, and more

Supply Chain (Streetsboro, OH) 

Position Description:

Growing company is currently seeking a highly organized, motivated, aggressive and energetic individual to join our organization. The primary focus of this position is to insure a high level of customer service through high order fill rates and effective utilization of company inventories. The ideal candidate will possess international sourcing experience, exceptional communication skills, the ability to work independently and to collaborate between cross functional teams, as well as have experience negotiating best possible pricing and reducing company costs.

As a member of our team, the successful candidate’s responsibilities will include managing forecasts, international and domestic sourcing of products, negotiating with suppliers, determining purchase quantities, pricing and placing orders, as well as the follow-up and record keeping necessary to support the purchasing function. Ideal candidate will also have an overall understanding of the business strategies as they apply to our new product development programs and be able to drive and execute the product development process.

Requirements:

Industrial Designer (Streetsboro, OH or Seattle, WA) 

Position Description:

Spectrum/Tovolo is seeking a Senior Level Industrial Designer to join our growing creative team. In this position, you will be responsible to analyze, visualize, prototype, create and deliver new product concepts and designs. This role requires an individual who has a passion for product as well as a passion for design. We are seeking somebody that will fit into and enhance our culture and understands the processes and methodologies used in creative innovation. We want a creative thinker who can visualize and support their ideas throughout the entire process of product creation; from problem/opportunity identification to 3D model creation, prototyping, engineering resolution and final concept delivery. The ideal candidate understands this process and wants to be hands on in every aspect of bringing a product to life.

Our product categories are focused in the housewares industry, from kitchen tools and gadgets to closet and pantry organization. We are looking for people that are ready to change the way consumers interact with the tools they use in the kitchen and throughout their homes.

Requirements:

Analyze

  • Observe, understand and interpret user interactions and translate these observations into strategic design drivers and creative product solutions
  • Execute current product audits and define conclusions to inspire the creation of new product design
  • Identify macro trends, understand the potential and possible crossover and use them to inspire relevant products

Visualize

  • Use high level sketching and drawing skills to communicate design visions to larger teams
  • Use technology and development tools to create visual concepts allowing proper communication of ideas and concepts to product and leadership teams.

Prototype

  • Build prototypes in our workshop as part of the iterative design process to convey product and design innovation and intent
  • Build prototypes in our workshop to be used in internal and external development meetings

Create

  • Lead and participate in brainstorms, sketch and ideation sessions to identify relevant ideas
  •  Develop concept ideas into innovative and relevant consumer products
  • Work with legal team to implement and execute relevant IP

Travel

  •  Some travel to Asia, trade-shows and customer visits as applicable

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelors degree in Industrial Design
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in closely related consumer product categories
  • Excellent sketching/drawing and visual communication skills (analog and digital)
  • Fluency with Solidworks and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with strategic innovation programs, design creation and related processes and models
  • Experience with interaction and iterative design process
  • Experience with overseas and contract production
  • Experience with molded plastics, wire forming, stamping, and silicone a plus
  • Excellent collaborative skills and experience working with cross functional teams
  • Excellent prototyping skills; study models, breadboards, proof of principal and functional prototype
  • Self motivator and strong team motivator
  • Be a team player; demonstrated capability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to quickly learn and develop new skills in relation to projects
  • Ability to conduct consumer observations, analyze this input and develop inspired frame of reference

Accounts Receivables (Streetsboro, OH)

Position Description:

Fast-paced established company in Streetsboro, OH is seeking an organized, motivated self-starter with excellent accounts receivable experience who is looking to be a part of our growing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Post customer payments by recording cash, checks and credit card transactions
  • Process credit card payments
  • Business to Business collection calls

Mechanical Design Engineer (Streetsboro, OH)

Position Description:

Create solid models and technical drawings using Solidworks to assist the Industrial Design department with new product development. Take product concepts through to production by producing engineering drawings, renderings, detailed diagrams of products and patent drawings. Communicate directly with overseas factories to troubleshoot and solve problems.

Requirements:

  • Work from design concepts to engineer innovative products which meet functionality, cost and timeline goals
  • Participate in the new product conceptual design process
  • Provide design for manufacturing guidance to industrial design team.
  • Creation of detail designs and drawings for fabrication.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, check and approve detail designs and drawings.
  • Complete inspection reports against technical drawings and clearly communicate issues to overseas manufacturing base
  • Create product renderings

Technical/Professional Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks is a must
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of design for manufacturability
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques in multiple substrates including injection molded plastics, wire forming, stamping, castings, wood fabricating

Essential Education & Experience:

Junior Product Designer (Streetsboro, OH)

Position Description:

Initiating and developing designs from concepts through production for the Design department. Consider factors influencing product design such as cost, selection of materials, production methods, new technology, safety, trends, ergonomics, environment, marketing and business strategy. Present sketches, create engineering drawings, renderings, and detailed diagrams of products. 

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to create a new idea into a design and turn it into a project.
  • Ability to create a model, drawing, or sketch and produce technical drawings
  • Ability to perform market research and competitive analysis.
  • Review models, inspect for design compliance and quality, prepare inspection reports and commentaries, and provide sample feedback.
  • Ability to provide design approval for production
  • Understanding of different consumer groups, price levels, and project goals.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Product / Industrial Design
  • 0-3 years experience in home organization products
  • High proficiency in SolidWorks, and Adobe Creative Suite, with an ability to bring an idea to completion as a final 3D modeling, and creating a complete technical drawing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Products

 Desired Skills:

  • Strong concept / drawing / sketching / design skills or any other tools that will help to convey the idea of the design.
  • High level of design standard, meticulous in the details and self-evaluation of own design esthetics.

 Warehouse - Production, Shipping and Receiving: 1st and 2nd (Streetsboro, OH)

Position Description:

We are looking for both full and part-time workers that thrive in a fast-paced, team environment. The ideal candidate is motivated, has a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Hiring for Production, Shipping and Receiving on our 1st and our 2nd Shifts. Our 2nd shift works 4 – 10 hour days per week (Monday – Thursday). Shift premium applies.

Required Experience:

  • Experience preferred in Warehouse Operations
  • Forklift and RF Scanner experience (for Shipping) a plus but not necessary
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
